A deadly tornado struck Northern Dyer County on Sunday and most of the survivors in the affected areas were still trying to find some normalcy following the devastation that occurred Sunday night.
Electrical crews were still working long hours to get the power returned to areas north of Dyersburg and Newbern, TN including; Biffle Road and Sara Lee Foods, Enochs Road, Lanesferry Road, Cobb Road, the Meacham Community, Millsfield and Harness Road. For residents this will be a much welcomed relief considering the hardship that many have faced over the
last few days.

The following photos were taken in several of the hardest hit areas. The photo on the left was taken on Harness Road in Northern Dyer County. This is just one example of the tremendous power that was unleashed by the April 2, 2006 tornado.
Harness Road was one of the first areas in the county to receive heavy damage. Many homes and lives along this beautiful stretch of Dyer County were lost to the storm. On top of the tragic human loss, many farm animals were killed when the tornado ripped through the normally peaceful community. On any given day you could drive down this road and see friends, neighbors or strangers sitting on their front porches or working in their yards and you would always get a big friendly wave. Some of the very people that made this community so appealing are gone but the ones that remain will surely bring life back to this area in the weeks to come.
