It’s October.  The dog days of summer have finally come to an end. Cooler weather and fall colors are eagerly awaited.  Fall harvest has begun.  I love the sight of combines creating eerie night scenes as they crawl across acres of soybean fields illuminated by their brilliant lights.
The start of this season ushers in a number of events.  Among these events are the Fall Festivals held by the local schools and other groups.  Large displays of pumpkins catch the eyes of soon to be trick-or-treaters.  Jean and I visited such a display today at the First Christian Church located on Community Park Road where pumpkins, ornamental gourds and beautifully designed wooden cut-outs are on sale.  Even if you are not interested in purchasing a pumpkin the fall displays are well worth the visit.  Sights such as this serve to enhance the beauty of the season and bring out the youth in all of us.  Fall is my favorite season of the year.
