Farm Fun at the Pumpkin Barn

It would not seem like fall of the year without a trip to Shirley Farms in Obion County on the Bluff Road.  We carried our granddaughter Sunday afternoon.  Jean and I recalled our first trip with her to this attraction.  She was a little less than one year old.  This year she is eleven.  The three of us enjoyed it just as much this year as we did ten years ago.

The brightly colored squash, the golden pumpkins and multicolored mums made for a beautiful display of fall colors.  A rustic setting including a barn with fall displays, antique items and pens with a variety of animals set the mood for this season.  It was a typical fall day with cool weather and a slight breeze in the air.  The sky was slightly overcast.  The smell of hay and animals created the finishing touch for an idyllic setting.  A fall day on the farm.

Shirley Farms has been offering farm fun for nearly 20 years. This year they have a petting zoo with bunnies, goats, sheep, donkeys, Luke the Steer, a camel and more. They also have a hay maze, bouncing balloon rides, a buried tractor and kids train rides on the weekends.

Shirley Farms is located on the Bluff Road east of Ridgely. Turn right at the stop light in Ridgely and then left on the Bluff Road and Shirley Farms is located just up on the left. They are open seven days a week from 9:00 am to 6 pm until Halloween night Oct. 31st.

For more information call Jennifer Shirley at (731) 264-5382.
